Jack London (1876 - 1916) was an American novelist, journalist and social activist. Pioneering the genre of magazine fiction and prototyping science fiction, he became one of the first writers, who gained worldwide fame and a large fortune. "Jerry of the Islands: A True Dog Story" is a novel set on Malaita, a part of the Solomon Islands archipelago. It is a story of an Irish terrier named Jerry and his adventures on a ship Arangi, engaged in delivering slaves. This book is also a part of a sibling story, which includes another novel called "Michael, Brother of Jerry".
